OBITUARY:
Died at her home near Gervais on Wednesday morning, November 8, 1909. Mrs. Mary Frances Ritchey, aged 69 years. Cause of death paralysis. Her maiden name was Mary Frances Lowe.
Mrs. Ritchey has been ill for over two years and death comes as a relief from long and patient suffering. She was also a devout Christian and a splendid neighbor, kind and affectionate mother. Mrs. Ritchey was born in Nicholas county, Kentucky, in 1840 and came to the Pacific Coast by the ox team route in 1852, first residing in Jackson county where she met and married George W. Ritchey in 1855. After a few years in the mines they moved to the Willamette valley settling in Marion county where they have continuously resided ever since. Her husband passed beyond several years ago and she has been a resident on their home place for 84 years. To this union was born a family of seven children, all living, as follows: Mrs. Josie Wood, Salem; Henry L. Ritchey, Salem; Charles W. Ritchey, Woodburn; George S. Ritchey, Mount Angel; Riley J. Ritchey, Salem; Mrs. Addie Manning, Gervais; John C. Ritchey, who resided with his mother up to the time of her death, of Gervais.
The funeral will take place from her late home on Friday, November 5, and from the Pioneer church with interment in the nearby cemetery.
