1870 IA CENSUS - Mary Beatty, age 23, occupation dressmaker, b. Indiana, is enumerated with father Macklin, age 55, occupation harness maker, b. Ireland, and Nancy, age 53, b. Pennsylvania, along with Aaron, age 21, occupation harness maker, b. Illinois, and Irma, age 16, b. Illinois.
1880 IA CENSUS - Mary McClord [sic], age 34, b. Indiana, is enumerated with husband J. K., age 34, occupation farmer, b. Kentucky, along with Iona, age 4, b. Iowa, and Olitia, age 2, b. Iowa [they are living next door to Joseph and Louisa McClord and family].
MARRIAGE - to James K. McClard, circa 1874
1910 OR CENSUS - Mary McClard, age 64, b. Indiana, married 36 years, mother of 5 children, all of whom are living at the time of the census, is enumerated with son Fred, age 26, single, occupation school teacher, b. Iowa.
DISCREPANCY - Census records give her place of birth as Indiana, but obit gives place of birth as Nebraska.
OBITUARY: 
Mrs. Mary McClard, 85, died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ione Dorcas, in Portland. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. in Portland and burial took place at Pioneer cemtery, three miles south of Gervais, at 1:00 p. m.
The deceased was born in Nebraska, where she was married, and with her husband and family came to Oregon 43 years ago and settled at Brooks. where she continued to live until 1910, when she and her husband moved to Portland and where Mr. McClard died in 1919.
About three months ago Mrs. McClard fell and broke her hip, from which, because of her age, she never recovered and complications caused her death. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ione Dorcas and Mrs. P. E. Jones of Portland and Mrs. S. D. Manning of Gervais; one son, Frank, of LaCenter, Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. Isabelle May of Everett, Wash., and Mrs. S. A. Stauber of Hebron, Neb., also fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
