OBITUARY:
The following dispatch was sent out from Eugene, Friday, Nov. 22: "Arthur Dean Jones of Eugene, railroad engineer, turned over the controls of his locomotive to Fireman G. F. Reidel, Eugene, last night and asked him to bring the train into town.
"When the train had reached a siding, Reidel found Jones dead, his head buried in his arms.
"Jones had been ill for some time."
The above is of especial interest to the people of this community, because the deceased grew to manhood on the farm now occupied by "Pete" Smith. He left the farm and took up railroading, rising to engineer in the SP service. His burial took place Monday afternoon at Pioneer cemetery, attended by a large number of friends who were his pals here in former days.
The deceased is survived by seven children, four brothers and one sister, Mrs. Grace Austin of Woodburn. Scott Jones is an uncle. Ringo Funeral Parlors of Woodburn assisted in the final rites at the Pioneer cemetery. Railroad associates were pallbearers.
