BIOGRAPHICAL (Source - ANNALS OF THE S. W. R. JONES FAMILY, pg 73): 
"Sylvia Winifred Jones was married September 14, 1924, to Creet T. Brixey, who was born in Seymour, Missouri. His father was a Union soldier.....She and her husband, who is the originator of the Brixnut filbert, farm the old homestead on the Pacific Highway."
OBITUARY: 
Creed Taylor Brixey, former resident of this section and later of the Lake Labish district, died in Salem, January 2. He is survived by his widow, Sylvia [sic] W. Brixey; sons and daughters, Homer R. Brixey of McMinnville; Mrs. D.H. McGogy of Vancouver, Wash.; Mrs. A. K. Coats of Lodi, Calif.; Mrs. Carlton Baker Jr. of Downey, Calif.; Mrs. Rex Pressy of Collings, Calif.; and Mrs. Sylvia W. Cummings of Oakland, Calif; brothers and sisters, John Brixey of Sheridan; Aaron Brixey of Perkins, Okla.; Mrs. Ora Dunlap of Stillwater, Okla.; and Mrs. Olive Johnson of New Mexico. Funeral services will be held this (Friday) afternoon at 1:30 from the W.T. Rigdon chapel in Salem and interment will be in Pioneer cemetery south of Gervais.

CREED T. BRIXEY
Funeral services for Creed T. Brixey of Brooks, originator of the Brixnut filbert, who died at the Deaconess hospital in Salem Tuesday, will be held at Rigdon's mortuary in Salem Friday at 1:30 P.M. Interment will be at the Brooks cemetery.
Mr. Brixey was well known in horticultural circles for his experimental work in developing soft-shelled filberts. He originated the Brixnut in 1913, and it has since been adopted as a standard variety.
Born December 29, 1868, he was engaged in the nursery business near McMinnville from 1909 to 1925. Since then he has lived at Brooks.
Surviving are his widow, Sylva, Brooks; a son, Homer Brixey, McMinnville; six daughters, Mrs. Maude A. McGogy, Vancouver; Mrs. Clara Baker, Downey, Cal.; Mrs. Jean Pressley, Coalinga, Cal.; Mrs. Winifred Cummings, Oakland, and Mrs. Pebble Costa and Mrs. Helen Poulson, Lodi, Cal; a brother, John Brixey, Sheriday, and two sisters and a brother in Oklahoma.
