1930 CENSUS - William W. Allsup, age 59, first married at age 21, farmer, b. Kansas, is enumerated with wife Minnie, age 59, first married at age 20, b. Oregon, along with daughter Thelma Beck, age 31, divorced, b. Oregon, and Betty Beck, age 9, identified as granddaughter, b. Oregon. BIOGRAPHICAL (Gervais Star 7 Oct 1927 1:2): "Was Bill Absent-Minded? In a hurry to complete his task so that he could get to the state fair last Friday forenoon, Wm. Allsup forgot to shut off the power after grinding some plowshares, locked the blacksmith shop and, with his better half, cranked up old Lizzie and hummed away for the fair. A fellow passing by noticing the door locked and the machinery running, gained admission and shut off the power."
OBITUARY: 
William W. Allsup, 77, late resident of Gervais, died Sunday night, May 16, at a Salem hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Ringo chapel in Woodburn followed by interment in Pioneer cemetery under the auspices of the Gervais I.O.O.F. lodge.
He was born in Kansas, August 20, 1870, and came to Oregon with his parents at the age of five years, and to Gervais 29 years ago. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Gervais. Surviving relatives are his wife, Minnie Allsup of Gervais; a daughter, Thelma Allsup Wood; a granddaughter, Berry Beck Forge and a great granddaughter, Betty Minnette Forge, all of Salem.
