OBITUARY:
SALEM - Betty A. McCullough, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2004, at the age of 69, following a courageous 21-month long battle with breast cancer.
Born in Salem, on April 7, 1934, Betty was the first daughter of Paul V. Baughman and Dollie L. (Wood) Baughman. She was also a great-granddaughter of the early pioneer settler, Jacob Baughman.
Betty graduated from Gervais High School in 1952, she then went to secretary school for 2 years before she started working for Veterans Affairs and for the Correctional Institute. She married Larry V. McCullough on August 3, 1957. He passed away on September 29, 1989.
Betty was a homemaker, landscaper, loved painting and refinishing woodwork, worked for various Lake Labish onion farmers, canned tons of fruits and vegetables over the years, an excellent quilter, but most of all was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She taught her children to love the Lord, “work hard”, “make your fingers fly”, and to “enjoy that cool breeze” on a hot summer day. She was a long-time member of Labish Center Evangelical Community Church.
Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Rhonda McCullough of Brooks; daughters and sons-in-law, Jodonna and Barry Dollar of Keizer, Dan Hemenway of Salem; Kelly and Brian Cuff of Eugene, and Kathryn and Robin Koenig of Brooks; grandchildren, Rachel McCullough, Brian Cuff, Amanda McCullough, Tiffany Koenig, Dollie McCullough, Nathan Hemenway, Brittany Koenig, Katy Hemenway, Annie Cuff, Jeffrey Koenig, Andrew Hemenway, Alicia McCullough, Caleb Cuff, Dakota Koenig, Silvia McCullough, and Jasmine Cuff; sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Ben Greer of Keizer.
A celebration of life will be held on Mon., Jan. 19, 2004, at 11 a.m., at Labish Center Community Church. Donations in her memory can be made to Labish Center Church, 7114 Labish Center Rd., Salem, OR 97305. Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel of Woodburn.
