1880 OR CENSUS - Franc Manning, age 53, farmer, b. Ireland, is enumerated with his wife, Mary J., age 41, b. Missouri, along with children Eugene W., age 19, farmer, b. Oregon, and Grant, age 15, b. Oregon.

OBITUARY:
At his residence in Gervais, July 22, 1890, Frank Manning, aged 62. Mr. Manning died from the effects of heart disease, being found in an unconscious condition by his son. He leaves four children, Mrs. G. M. Settlemeir, of Gervais, Mrs. P. L. Kennedy, of Woodburn, and E. M. and Grant Manning, of Gervais. Mr. Manning was a pioneer of 1850, and has since that time made his home on French Prairie. He was one of those good old pioneers whose word was as good as a government bond, and whom we can ill afford to loose.
