OBITUARY: 
SALEM - Verda Edith Woodrum passed away in Salem at the age of 79. She was born September 5, 1925 in Dunlap, Kan., to Roy and Myrtle (Harvey) Lamon.
Verda was raised in Kansas and married Paul Woodrum at her parents’ home in Liberal, Kan., on May 24, 1941. Together they owned and operated two restaurants and a hotel before coming to Salem in 1951. Verda had worked for the DMV for several years before working for Dole Cannery where she was a shop steward. She retired in the early 1980’s.
Verda was a member of Oak Park Community Church of God and had been a member of the Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed children, all of nature, flowers, all animals and fishing. She loved spending time with her family, especially the many grandchildren. Verda and Paul would have celebrated their 64th anniversary later this month.
Verda is survived by her husband, Paul of Sublimity; daughters, Trythena (Dick) Bandy of Aumsville and Paula (LeRoy) Miller of Cordell, Okla.; son, Robert (Karma) Woodrum of Salem; 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thurs., May 5 and Fri., May 6 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., May 7, at Pioneer Cemetery in Brooks. A reception will follow the graveside service at Oak Park Community Church of God, 2990 Lancaster Drive, N.E., Salem. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
