Though very studious and fond of reading, he was prompt to respond to any call of duty which he performed with conscientious care."   BIOGRAPHICAL (Gervais Star 14 Oct 1927); "Dr. Dowd Reports...While Lester Jones was working on a hop baler on the Williams ranch last Friday, his right hand mingled with the machinery causing severe injuries to the hand and several fingers".
