The aged farmer, who went into his field to plow at about 10:15, was found lying face downward behind his halted team, the traces still in his hand, by school children coming from the nearby schoolhouse during the noon hour.
Deputy sheriffs and County Coroner L. E. Barrick, who were summoned, could find no evidence other than that he had died from natural causes.
Sargent is survived by Mrs. Cora Spurlock, a daughter-in-law with whom he was living; and by daughters including Mrs. Gladys Brown, Waconda; Mrs. Ethel Pickens, 64 Pine Street, Salem; and Mrs. Hazel Simmons, Portland.
