BIOGRAPHICAL (From The Annals Of The S.W.R. Jones Family, pg 80):
"Sarah Jones married Charles Fanning Clarke, youngest son of Dr. Andrew and Sarah Ann Clarke, and a member of the Class of 1880, University of Oregon. Dr. Roland performed the ceremony at the New House, in 1881. I remember being taken into the parlor through the door from the south porch "to see Aunt Sarah married." The large room was crowded with friends and relatives, but, when the handsome groom faced us from his place before the front windows, one could have heard a pin drop. He stood straight and tall and a bit pale while the bride approached through the door from the living room and took her place beside him. She wore something white and filmy and her dark hair curled about her beautiful glowing face."
