OBITUARY: 
Clara I. Shields died in Salem February 18 at the age of 77 years. She was born on the donation land claim of John T. Smith, south of Gervais and resided in this community until 19 years ago when she moved to Salem. She is survived by Cleve W. Shields of Salem and Captain Luke S. Shields of Fort Ord. Calif., sons: Albert Smith of Dallas, a brother; Grace Shields of Salem and Carol and Roger Shields of Carmel, Calif., grandchildren. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Salem and of several fraternal orders.
Funeral services were held at the Rigdon chapel Monday. Rev. Achor of Oregon City, a former pastor here, officiating, and concluding services were at Pioneer cemetery under auspices of the Salem Rebekah lodge.

In this city February 18, Clara I. Shields, late of 260 South 14th street, age 77 years. Mother of Cleve W. Shields of Salem and Captain Luke S. Shields of Fort Ord, Calif.; sister of Albert M. Smith of Dallas; grandmother of Grace Shields of Salem and Carol and Roger Shields of Carmel, Calif. She was a member of Salem Rebekah lodge, Salem Grange, Woman’s Benefit association, and of the Presbyterian church. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the W. T.
