OBITUARY: 
Funeral services for Andrew Rudolph Siegmund, 96, former Gervais area resident, were held yesterday (Wednesday) morning at Ringo-Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Woodburn with Rev. Joe Harding officiating. Interment was in Gervais Pioneer cemetery.
Mr. Siegmund was born September 21, 1865, in Sheboygan county, Wisconsin, and came to Oregon in 1873 with his parents, Jacob and Mary (Klumb) Siegmund. They settled first in Portland, then moved to the valley the following years. Mr. Siegmund taught school at Fern Ridge, Mehama and Parkersville for a number of years before entering the mercantile business in Gervais. He also served as postmaster for 12 years, was employed by the Gervais state bank, operated a woodwork and blacksmith shop and after his retirement from the post office in the 1930's , he build a greenhouse and grew camellias about which he became quite an expert.
He was a member of the Stayton Odd Fellows lodge for over 60 years and was a member of Harmony Rebekah lodge at Quinaby. His first wife Minnie Wade Siegmund died in 1944 and several years later he moved to Salem. Later he married Catherine Cutsforth who survives. Other survivors include a brother Henry A. Siegmund of Stayton with whom he once was a partner in the woodwork and blacksmith shops. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
