OBITUARY:  Raymond Blanton, 81, of 2782 Evergreen Ave. NE, died Sunday in a Salem nursing home after a long illness. He was born in Brooks and had lived in the Salem area most of his life. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Scharf and Mrs. Kathryn McClaughry, both of Salem; sons, Melvin and Glen Blanton, both of Salem; Raymond Blanton, Claypoole, Ariz; and Marvel Blanton, Powers, Ore.; 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Barrick Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery.
