OBITUARY:  SALEM - Jim was born in Kokomo, Ind. on January 26, 1908, and moved to Oregon in 1921. He married Ruth Vinton on October 9, 1927. They lived in the Lake Labish area, where he enjoyed farming onions until 1970, when he retired from farming and moved to Salem. Jim lived his life serving the Lord, and while doing so was always giving and helping others. He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where he taught Sunday School and later spent his time visiting shut-ins. He is survived by two sons, Wilbur and George Rickard, both of Salem; two daughters, Rolleene Krumroy of Salem and Lola Hampton of Beaverton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. A memorial service will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene at 2 p.m., Wed., Jan. 7, 2004. Private graveside services will be held at Brooks Pioneer Cemetery.
