Dakota, along with Hubert, age 4, b. Oregon. OBITUARY:  MOLALLA - Nelta B. Batch, 72, died Saturday. She was born in Gervais and worked in the Portland shipyard during World War II. She worked for Eastman Kodak in New York and as a house mother at Hillcrest School for Girls in Salem. She lived in Salem for several years before moving to Molalla after her retirement. She was an avid gardner and enjoyed working on her small farm. Survivors include her husband Ansel; sons John Batch of Salem and Lester Vach of Woodburn; daughters Sheila R. Serkalow of Salem and Kathleen Baker of Christmas Valley; brother, Ivan Brundage of Molalla; sister, Patricia M. Kertzman of Woodland, Wash.; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cornwell mortuary in Waconda.
