OBITUARY: KEIZER - Jack Rickard left this world for a better place February 11, 2007, joining his parents, Paul and Ethel Rickard; and brother, Don ‘Ray’ Rickard who preceded him in death.
He was born on November 19, 1952 in Salem, Oregon and spent his entire life in the Salem/Keizer area. He began his career at an early age as a metal fabricator, welder, mechanic and machine designer. Jack was also a natural-born racer, that was a skill acquired from his dad. He raced mostly at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Oregon; running in the Super-stock class and later on made the move to the more powerful Outlaw Open Class. He recently returned to racing highly modified carts in Castle Rock and through this winter at the Oregon State Fairgrounds.
Jack is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kim (Stapleton) Rickard of Keizer; daughter, Tanya (Kenny) Tooze of Salem; daughter, Nichol (Adam) Schauer of Keizer; daughter, Tabitha Rickard of Keizer; and son, Tim Rickard of Keizer. Grandchildren are Lacey, Kenzie, Bailey, Alex, Spencer, Kelsey, and Dylan. Jack is also survived by his brothers, Sam (Charlene) Rickard of Keizer, and Danny (Jane) Rickard of Salem.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2007 and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007. Both at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
