Mrs. Vicars died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at home. She was 90. Macy & Son Funeral Directors of McMinnville is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 25, 1918, in Nashville, Oregon, the daughter of Homer and Elsie Hershey. She was raised in several towns in Oregon. She attended Oregon State University in Corvallis. She married Harold Vicars on Feb. 17, 1947, in Reno, Nev. She lived in Portland for several years, moving to Birkenfeld where she raised her family. She moved to Whiteson in 1997. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking and camping. Survivors include a daughter, Charlynn Vicars of Amity; two sons, Robert Vicars of Longview, Wash. and Steven Vicars of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a sister, Dora Lou Pope of Portland; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; two brothers and two sisters.
