OBITUARY: 
William Shepherd, 83, who resided in Hawaii from 1922 until 1963, died in Salem, Ore. Tuesday.
He was a former employee of C. Brewer and Co. on the Big Island, working at various sugar plantations. He retired in 1960 [1957]. He also had been a WWI veteran with the Canadian Army.
Shepherd became a citizen of the United States in 1927. He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Salem; daughter, Jean Hunsaker of Salem, and son, David, of Annadale, Va.
Also surviving is a sister, Elise Shepherd and five grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Barrick Funeral Home in Salem. Services are pending.
