OBITUARY: 
Silverton, May 17 – James Gibson, about 70, a resident here for many years, died this afternoon. He made his home with his sister-in-law, Mrs. Jennie Gibson of West Main Street. He was prominent in Odd Fellow activities. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Larson & Son.

Silverton – James Gibson, 73, died at his home here Monday afternoon. He was a native of Ireland, but came to the United States at the age of 15 and settled with his family in the Waldo Hills and had made his home in this community since, for the last 12 years in the immediate vicinity of Silverton. He was prominent in the work of the I.O.O.F. lodge. He is survived by one brother, Matthew, of Silverton. Funeral announcements will be made later by the Larson & Son Mortuary.

Silverton – James Clarence Gibson, 74, passed away Monday afternoon following an illness that resulted from a stroke of paralysis four years ago and a second illness recently. Gibson was born in Ireland June 17, 1863. At the age of 15 he came to America with his parents, Matthew and Anne Gibson, who settled in Marion County eight miles south of Silverton, in 1878 near Victor Point. Gibson was married at the age of 24 years to Cordelia Jane Taylor in San Francisco. To them were born seven daughters, all married and residing in various parts of California. The wife passed away three years ago. Survivors include two brothers, Matthew of Silverton and Thomas of Salem; sister Elizabeth Cummings of Salem. Funeral services Thursday at 2 p.m. from Larson & Son Mortuary. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
