OBITUARY: 
Silverton – Lois A. Riches, 70, of 1209 N. Water St. died Sunday in a Salem hospital.
A lifelong resident of Silverton, she taught school for 30 years. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Business and Professional Women’s Club, Waldo Hills Grange and Silverton Hospital Auxiliary Club.
Surviving are brothers C. Robert, Theodore, Harry, all of Silverton, Frank of Buena, Wash., and sister Winifred Riches of Silverton. Services are pending at Unger Mortuary.

Lois A. Riches, born in the Silverton area, died August 12, Sunday, at the Salem Memorial Hospital.
Services were held Wednesday, August 15 at 2 p.m. at Unger Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Colburn officiating and private interment at the Pioneer cemetery Mount Hope.
Miss Riches was born in Silverton February 25, 1903, and had lived in the area of all of her life. She taught school in rural areas and in Silverton for 30 years, retiring several years ago.
She was active in community affairs in the Waldo Hills area, where she lived for many years before moving into Silverton with her sister, Miss Winifred Riches. She was a member of the Waldo Hills Community Club and Grange, serving in various offices; member of the Methodist Church, and active in the Silverton Hospital Auxiliary, Business and Professional Womens Club, and the Next to New shop.
Survivors in addition to her sister Winifred, are brothers Theodore, Harry and C. Robert Riches of Waldo Hills, and Frank Riches of Buena, Wash., and several nieces and nephews. Bearers were Jack Riches, Wayne Riches, John Riches, Robert Riches, Keith Attridge and Allan Mulkey.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
