OBITUARY: 
“Clarence Gietema of Salem, 59, died Wednesday. He was born in Hommerts, Holland. He immigrated to Canada during the 1950s. He then moved to California before moving to Salem in 1968. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Salem and enjoyed farming and traveling. He was a member of the Sunnyslope Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder, and was a member of the Oregon Dairy Products Commission. Survivors include his wife, Nellie; daughters, Theresa VanBeek of Monroe, Anita Peterson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Wilma Zink of Salem; son, Hank of Salem; brothers, Fred of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Anne and Bart, both of Holland; sister, Sara Wiersma of Holland; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Interment will be in Mount Hope Pioneer Cemetery, east of Salem. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Mortuary. Contributions: Sunnyslope Christian Reformed Church.
