BIOGRAPHICAL (From Mt. Hope Cemetery, pg 170): "Mercilla/Marcilla/Marsilla,/Marcella Cox King was the daughter of Gideon S. Cox who settled with his family near Silverton in 1847. When Mercilla married Wilburn King in Champoeg, Oregon Territory in 1846 there were no newspapers published locally".
