OBITUARY: Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Hope Cemetery here, and a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Salem Alliance Church for James Henry Thompson, 61, of Salem, who died Sunday.
He was born in Salem and had lived and farmed here all his life. The farm east of Salem was a Century Farm, started by his grandfather in 1868. In 1942 James Thompson was a Star Farmer of America. He was a member of the Salem Alliance Church and was a former member of the Victor Point and Salem Academy school boards.
Surviving are his wife, Eunice V.; sons, Richard, Tim, and Michael, all of Salem; daughters, Donna Olson, Seattle, and Dianne Lemm, Missoula, Mont., and sister, Alice Hammitt, Eugene.
Arrangements are under the direction of Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the memorial fund of the church.
