OBITUARY: 
Albert Mader Dies in Salem – Albert J. Mader, who was born in Silverton and was instrumental in organizing the original Valley Farmers Co-op, died Thursday at a Salem hospital at the age of 76.
Mr. Mader helped organize the co-osteoporosis here and was a former board chairman. Services were 1:30 p.m. Monday at Virgil Golden Mortuary in Salem, with Dr. Daniel Schulze officiating and interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve, sons Donald and Howard, sisters Mrs. Louise Dunnigan of Salem, Mrs. Emma Neuswanger of Silverton, Mrs. Lydia Schifferer of Turner and Mrs. Sophia Nelson of Portland, and a brother John of Colfax, Wash.

Albert J. Mader, 76, 11070 Edmundson Drive SE, a mid-Willamette Valley native, died Thursday at a Salem hospital.
He was born at Silverton and was a member for 47 years of Macleay Grange. He was also a member of Marion County Farm Bureau and was an organizer and board chairman of Valley Farmers Co-Osteoporosis, Silverton, and Pratum Corp.
Surviving are widow Genevieve; sons Donald and Howard, both of Salem; sisters Mrs. Louise Dunnigan, Salem, Mrs. Emma Neuswanger, Silverton, Mrs. Lydia Schifferer, Turner, and Mrs. Sophia Neilson, Portland; brother John, Colvax, Wash., and three grandchildren. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Virgil T. Golden mortuary, Dr. Daniel Schulze officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Heart Fund or American Cancer Society.
