OBITUARY:
Silverton – Gaynelle Jean Riches, 58, died Monday in Silverton. She was born in Portland and lived throughout the Northwest as a child and in Alaska as a young adult.
While her husband was on active duty in the Navy she was in the Navy Relief Society in the United States and in Japan. She also volunteered in active youth support activities such as scouting and swim programs. She moved to Silverton in 1981. She also had attended Chemeketa Community College. She had been a secretary in the governor’s office of citizen communication.
Survivors include her husband, Ray; daughters, Donna Nelson of Silverton, Laura Riches of Astoria and Gayle Johnson of Los Angeles; son, Frank of Silverton; brothers Gary Haygood of Spinard, Alaska, and Dennis Haygood of Delena, MO: and five grandchildren.
Services will begin at 6 p.m. Friday in Unger Mortuary. Private interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
