MT. ANGEL - Nancy Ellen (Jarvis) Scriber of Mt. Angel, Oregon, daughter of Dee Vincent and Kathleen (Briar) Jarvis was born at Auburn, Nebraska on January 23, 1945. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church at Peru, Nebraska. She graduated from Peru Prep High School, Peru, Nebraska; received her Bachelor of Science degree from Peru State College, Peru, Nebraska; and her masters degree in Library Science from the University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon. She was a public school librarian at Traynor, Iowa; and Stayton, Oregon.
On December 19, 1976, Nancy was united in marriage to Howard Scriber. Nancy and Howard enjoyed traveling and spending time at the Oregon coast. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Silverton, Oregon, was a member of the church choir, and where she assisted with the church library. She enjoyed her home, yard and garden, was an avid reader, enjoyed cross stitching, and toll painting.
Nancy passed away on Friday, June 29, 2007 in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 62. Those left to remember her are her father, Dee Jarvis; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gary Schlange, all of Auburn, Nebraska. Also, step-sons and their wives, Vernon and Chris Scriber, and Bradley and Sue Scriber; and step-daughter, Darla Scriber, all of Oregon City, Oregon. As well as nephew and his wife, Kevin and Teresa Schlange of Auburn, Nebraska; and niece and her husband, Kimberly and Terry Hahn of Johnson, Nebraska. She was ‘Nana’ to MaSharra, Kassidy, Destiny, Max, Jessica, Heather, and Mason Scriber.
She will be missed by other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Silverton, Oregon. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Salem, Oregon. Unger Funeral Chapel of Silverton, Oregon, is in charge of arrangements.
